ICURFC Men’s Rugby Team Coach
Part-time | Richmond, London | £20–£25 per hour | 2 hours per week

Imperial College London is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Rugby Union coach to join our Men’s Rugby Club. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact with a small time commitment, leading a weekly training session and working closely with student captains to develop players and improve team performance.

The role would suit an experienced club coach looking to add university coaching to their experience, as well as a coach earlier in their career looking to take on greater responsibility and develop their coaching experience in a competitive university environment. Alongside the regular weekly commitment, there will be opportunities for additional paid hours around selected match days, competitions, events and other club activities, providing scope to become more involved with the programme throughout the season.

About the Role
Working closely with student captains and the club committee, you will help establish an ambitious, positive and enjoyable rugby environment. You will:

Lead and deliver a structured weekly training session.
Develop players’ technical, tactical and game-understanding skills.
Work with captains to identify team priorities and areas for development.
Help prepare the team for league, cup, Varsity and other competitive fixtures.
Provide coaching guidance and support to student leaders.
Contribute to a positive, ambitious and inclusive club culture.
Attend selected match days, events or competitions where appropriate, with opportunities for additional paid hours.

Essential:

England Rugby Coaching Award (ERCA) or equivalent coaching qualification.
Strong knowledge and understanding of Rugby Union and player development.
Excellent communication, motivation and leadership skills.
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, purposeful coaching sessions.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with student leaders.

Desirable:

Forwards/Set-piece experience.

Experience playing or coaching Rugby Union at club level or above.
Previous university or student rugby coaching experience.
Why Join Us?

Our rugby programme includes high-profile Varsity fixtures against teams including LSE, Camborne School of Mines and Imperial Medicals, alongside league and cup fixtures, one-off matches and tours.

For coaches looking to build experience in university sport, this provides an opportunity to work with student athletes and student-led sporting organisations within a competitive university rugby programme.

Experience working within a leading university sporting environment.
A flexible role that can complement existing coaching or employment commitments.
