Description:
Sherborne Rugby is one of the leading schoolboy rugby programmes in the country. With more than 300 boys playing rugby each year, a thriving pathway from Sherborne Prep through to the 1st XV, strong links with regional performance programmes, and a proud tradition stretching back over a century, rugby sits at the heart of life at Sherborne.
We are seeking an inspiring Director of Rugby Coaching to join our ambitious and values-driven sports department. Working closely with the Director of Rugby, Director of Sport and Deputy Director of Sport (Performance), the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering an outstanding rugby experience for boys of all ages and abilities.
This role is ideal for someone who believes in the power of sport to develop character and who combines a passion for coaching with the ability to build meaningful relationships with young people. We are looking for an individual who can create an environment in which boys are challenged, supported and inspired to embody Sherborne’s core virtues: curiosity, service, resilience, empathy, integrity and respect.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of players, coaches and teams across the rugby programme, helping boys to approach learning with curiosity, respond to challenge with resilience, support others through service and empathy, and conduct themselves with integrity and respect both on and off the field. They will understand that success is measured not only by results and performances, but by the quality of the young people who leave the programme.
Above all, we are seeking someone who understands that school rugby is about far more than winning matches. It is about creating memorable experiences, developing character, fostering lifelong friendships and helping boys grow into young men who live out Sherborne’s virtues in everything they do.
Interviews to be held 24 or 25 June 2026
